KNOWLEDGE SPACES

KNOWLEDGE SPACES
Spaces for Deepening, Orientation, and Sharing

Knowledge begins where information takes on meaning. The KNOWLEDGE SPACES of the ACADEMY OF WISDOM bring together presentations and articles, atlases, and compendia on health, nursing, palliative care, spiritual care, dementia, psychology, philosophy, and wisdom traditions—each linked to the question: What does this knowledge mean for people?

They are neither a blog nor a textbook, but rather spaces in between: between knowledge and understanding, between theory and real-world practice, between technical clarity and human connection.

🜂 Knowledge as an invitation to explore further.

NAVIGATION ATLAS DEMENTIA

Types, Causes, and Holistic Care

A Clinical Compass from Biological Diagnosis to Legal Safeguards.

Not all forms of dementia are the same. Different clinical presentations come with their own causes, symptoms, disease progression, and requirements for support and care. This KNOWLEDGE SPACE brings together the most important forms of dementia, as well as medical, nursing, psychosocial, and legal aspects, in a concise visual guide.

The focus includes Alzheimer's dementia, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and Lewy body dementiasupplemented by questions regarding pain, treatment, legal capacity, fitness to drive, palliative care, and support for family members.

🜂 Orientation for care professionals, companions, family members, and anyone who wishes to understand dementia in a more differentiated way.

THE ETHICAL COMPASS IN PALLIATIVE CARE

Medical Ethics, Cultural Sensitivity, and Spiritual Care at the End of Life

Understand people before accompanying them.

Palliative care encompasses far more than just medical care. End-of-life decisions are caught between the conflicting principles of self-determination, care, doing no harm, and justice—while also being shaped by a person’s life story, culture, religion, worldview, and personal notions of dignity, meaning, and dying.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE combines guidance in medical ethics with culturally sensitive communication and spiritual care. It focuses on ethical conflicts, patient rights, advance care planning, religious and worldview backgrounds, unspoken spiritual needs, and the role of professional end-of-life support.

🜂 Palliative care begins where professional knowledge meets the person throughout their entire life story.

THE STILLNESS OF REST

A Space for Awareness, Education, and Transformation

“I don't teach; I remind.”

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE provides an introduction to the philosophical and psychospiritual approach of the ACADEMY OF WISDOM. At its core is the stepping back of the person in favour of an open space in which remembrance, inner perception, and one’s own truth can once again be heard.

The presentation unfolds the inner journey through three resonant spaces: Silence, Depth, and Truth. It combines questions of identity, healing, education, retreat, embodiment, and inner freedom with an approach that focuses less on instruction and more on encounter, and less on method and more on remembrance.

🜂 The path does not lead forward. It leads inward.

PALLIATIVE CARE 2026

The Architectural Foundation

Legal foundations, care pathways, and end-of-life decisions, clearly organized.

Palliative care does not begin only in the final days of life. This KNOWLEDGE SPACE illustrates how medical, nursing, legal, and family-related issues are intertwined—from general palliative care through home-based palliative care (SAPV), palliative care units, and hospices, to living wills, durable powers of attorney, and leave of absence for family members.

The presentation organises the complex legal and care framework like a building: laws and guidelines form the foundation, different forms of care provide the supporting structure, entitlements to benefits secure its financial stability, and the patient’s wishes safeguard self-determination.

🜂 Good palliative care not only protects life until the very end—it also protects self-determination, relationships, and the people who share the burden of illness, care, and dying.

SYSTEM BREAKDOWN AT 8:30 PM

If the primary caregiver is suddenly unavailable

A care emergency caught between an acute medical situation, legal responsibility, and a real gap in care.

A husband suffers a heart attack and must be taken to the hospital immediately. His wife, who has dementia, cannot be left alone. Family members, home care services, and a nursing home are not available on short notice—and even a legal guardian who lives far away cannot immediately take over her care.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE examines what happens when a medical emergency is accompanied by a second social care emergency. The focus is on risk assessment, legal guardianship, care counselling, risk prevention, short-term care, and the question of what sustainable regional emergency response structures should look like.

🜂 A system's resilience is revealed when its sole supporting pillar suddenly collapses.

Knowledge Space No. 6

SURVIVAL IS NOT HEALING

Why Recovery Truly Begins After a Heart Attack

There is a path all its own between a heart that has been saved and trust that has been regained.

Modern acute medicine can diagnose a heart attack, reopen blocked coronary arteries, and save lives. But for many patients, a new reality begins upon discharge: they perceive their bodies differently, uncertainty persists, and even unremarkable test results do not answer every question about their experience.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE brings together medical, psychological, sociomedical, and existential perspectives. It focuses on changes in body perception, vigilance, anxiety, the rhythm of recovery, psychocardiology, and the question of how trust in one’s own body and in life can gradually be restored.

🜂 Survival marks the end of an acute threat to life. Healing begins when a person rediscovers their place in life.

BEYOND LISTENING

The Essence of True Presence

How stepping away from the external listener can open space for one’s own truth.

When people speak, they often seek relief, validation, and someone who will listen to their story. But listening can also become a form of repetition if the external ear prevents people from staying with themselves long enough to reconnect with their own silence.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE goes beyond the familiar notion of listening. It focuses on presence without constant availability, the tetralemma of listening, the dissolution of fixed roles for speaker and listener, as well as Sparsha as an all-encompassing space in which words, silence, pain, and stillness may all find equal expression.

🜂 True listening begins when the external ear no longer stands between a person and their own truth.

Knowledge Space No. 8

THE ECHO OF LIFE

Between Creation, Transience, and the Present

An invitation to look at life anew from its quietest edge.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores the human condition through the lens of finitude, creation, and resonance. At its core is the question of what remains of a life: its duration, its work, its love—or that silent echo that continues to resonate within others.

The presentation explores transience, decision-making, empathy, creative devotion, the present moment, and farewell. It views human beings not so much as owners of their lives and works, but rather as a conduit through which something enters the world and continues to resonate there.

🜂 Perhaps we leave behind no stories. Perhaps we leave behind resonance.

Knowledge Space No. 9

BURNOUT IN THE SHADOW OF THE PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINE

Modern Human Beings Between Adaptation, Marketability, and Inner Measure

Human beings are not perpetual motion machines. Their dignity begins before any achievement.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE views burnout not merely as a consequence of work stress, but as a potential rift between external actions and inner being. It focuses on self-optimization, pressure to make decisions, marketability, education as proof of worth, and the question of what happens when people increasingly treat themselves as projects.

The presentation goes on to explore the question of meaning, the ancient wisdom of measure, the limits of one’s own gifts, and interruption as a spiritual act. It asks how a life can once again find a balance in which not every ability is exhausted and not every instance of regeneration is once again subordinated to performance.

🜂 Healing begins when life no longer has to prove that it is worth living.

Knowledge Space No. 10

DEPRESSION AS A BLOCKED TRANSITION

When Life Loses Its Inner Mobility

Healing begins with the first transition that can be experienced again.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE examines depression as a philosophical-anthropological model of disrupted transitional capacity. The focus is on the question of what happens when thoughts, exhaustion, grief, and one’s experience of the future remain stuck in a single state, and the next inner step seems almost impossible to imagine.

The presentation combines adaptability, relationship, rhythm, self-care, professional support, and the idea of an inner structure that preserves the coherence of life even during phases of deep blockage. Healing is seen here as the regaining of inner mobility—as the ability to allow a new form of one’s own life to emerge.

🜂 Life sustains itself through change—and sometimes change begins with a barely perceptible next step.

Knowledge Space No. 11

WHEN LIFE IS MERELY ADMINISTERED

Modern Human Beings Between Responsibility, Exhaustion, and an Undivided Life

Tools are getting better—but there’s less and less room for what really matters.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE focuses on a form of modern exhaustion that stems less from the sheer volume of work than from a persistent sense of inner fragmentation. People organize their time, health, relationships, education, and future—and in doing so, they sometimes lose that quiet space where experiences mature and coalesce into insight.

The presentation explores constant interruption, ongoing responsibility, the loss of depth, the longing for wholeness, and the importance of silence as a means of inner reflection. It centers on the question of how the mere management of daily life can once again give rise to creativity, maturation, and a sense of creative coherence.

🜂 We are more than the sum of our tasks.

Knowledge Space No. 12

THE REALITY OF NONDUALITY

A Journey of Discovery Through Medicine, Science, Philosophy, and Wisdom

What happens when the parts are recognized with increasing precision—and, as a result, the whole becomes visible again?

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores medicine, health sciences, neuroscience, psychology, society, philosophy, and wisdom. It focuses on the question of whether a common thread can be identified beneath their different languages, without undermining the autonomy of the individual disciplines.

The presentation traces the shift from differentiation to interconnectedness: from the organ as an individual structure to a living network; from the self as a fixed entity to an ongoing process; from identity as a form of demarcation to resonance; and finally to nonduality as a way of knowing in which separation ceases to be taken for granted.

🜂 The reality of nonduality begins when a person recognises that they have never been separate from it.

TRUTH – THE 66 GATES OF INNER AWAKENING

From Origin, Opening, and the Path to Unity

A gate explains nothing. It opens.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE follows 66 inner gates through Origin, Opening, Path, Unity, Transformation, and Point of Light. It touches on courage and fear, error and resistance, freedom and decision, loss and forgiveness, body and ancestry, simplicity and devotion—and leads us again and again to that threshold where knowledge loses its self-evidence and perception grows deeper.

The presentation condenses this movement into four developmental spaces: Origin, Opening, Path, and Unity. It presents the resonance model of the echo of actions, the transformation of resistance, the space between stimulus and response, and finally the paradox of a truth in which beginning and end return into one another.

🜂 Truth begins where a person allows themselves to be touched by their own question.

Knowledge Space No. 14

FAITHFULNESS TO ONE'S OWN PERCEPTION

On Trust, Attachment, and the Limit of the Knowable

How open can trust remain without losing one’s own measure?

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE operates in that interstitial space where closeness, doubt, and uncertainty coexist. It asks what happens when lived experiences retain their meaning while individual stories, explanations, or contexts lose their certainty.

The focus is on perception and judgment, māyā, attachment, not-knowing, inner limits, and the question of how trust need not become either blind or cynical. The presentation leads from attachment to others back to one’s own perception—and to a clarity that allows open questions to remain open.

🜂 I trust again. But I don't lose myself in it anymore.

Knowledge Space No. 15

FEAR AS THE LONGING FOR WHAT MUST HAPPEN

When What Is Coming Has No Name Yet

At some point, the state of suspension weighs more heavily than what is feared.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores fear as a movement between perception and what is yet to happen. Something rises as the familiar loses its footing. In between, a tension arises in which possibility has not yet become reality—and precisely for that reason takes up more and more space.

The presentation explores the ascending and the descending, the wild and the almost untamable, the cost of avoidance, the very edge of exhaustion, as well as truthfulness and transparency. At its heart lies that quiet rupture in which what has long been feared finally occurs and loses its previously immeasurable weight.

🜂 The longing for what must happen ends when the state of suspension ends.

Knowledge Space No. 16

DEGRADATION OF THE SELF

A Tradition on Forgetting the Ground

It is not the falling that is the fall. It is the forgetting of the ground.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores what happens when people begin to view themselves through the very standards that were originally created to organize the world. Naming leads to belonging, belonging to usefulness, and usefulness to evaluation—until the measurable is increasingly confused with reality.

The presentation follows this silent shift from measure to self-measure, from image to identity, and from orientation to submission. At its core is the question of how what humans have created can gradually become the measure of humanity—and what becomes visible when the scales come to a momentary standstill.

🜂 It is not the lie that conceals; it is the truth that conceals.

Knowledge Space No. 17

RADICAL PRESENCE

Why Silence Is the Biggest Taboo in Coaching

The truth doesn't need a voice. It needs space.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE challenges a fundamental assumption of coaching: that development arises primarily through questions, interventions, and methodical action. Instead, it focuses on the possibility of a presence that adds nothing and, precisely because of this, opens up a space in which a person can encounter their own perceptions.

The presentation draws on Indian epistemology and on Śravaṇa, Manana, Nididhyāsana, Anubhava, and Pratyakṣa to trace a movement from external stimulus to direct inner experience. Shravana, Manana, Nididhyasana, Anubhava und Pratyaksha The focus is on shared silence as a non-judgemental space for resonance and on the question of whether the deepest form of professional support can sometimes consist of refraining from intervention.

🜂 Radical presence begins when the coach no longer fills the space.

Knowledge Space No. 18

THE ILLUSION OF SELF-OBSERVATION

Those who constantly observe themselves can easily lose the immediacy of their own experience.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores what happens when awareness itself becomes a new form of inner self-examination. Self-awareness can give rise to a continuous space of reflection in which a person examines, evaluates, and corrects their thoughts, feelings, and reactions—until the observer becomes the inner arbiter of truth.

The presentation traces a path through Advaita Vedānta, Buddhism, Sufism, Meister Eckhart, and Taoism to a common boundary: the point at which the constant preoccupation with one’s own self ceases to be necessary. In this context, emptying appears less as a new goal than as the collapse of the observer himself.

🜂 Sometimes insight begins when we stop trying to force an answer.

PALLIATIVE CARE – ILLNESS, SUFFERING, DEATH, AND SPIRITUALITY

Religious and Worldview-Based Conceptions at the End of Life

When people reach the limits of life, accompaniment requires more than symptom control.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE views palliative care as a multidimensional process. Physical, psychological, social, and spiritual challenges are interrelated; spiritual care is seen as part of a holistic view of the human person and as a shared responsibility of all those involved in providing care.

The presentation combines the Total Pain Concept, religious and philosophical beliefs, spiritual coping, the model of the three bodies and five sheaths, as well as practical approaches such as spiritual assessment, symbolic acts, and culturally sensitive support. At the core is an approach that neither interprets nor instructs the individual, but rather allows them space for their own search for meaning.

🜂 One of the most fundamental aspects of palliative care is ensuring that people are not left alone with their questions.

Knowledge Space No. 20

THREE BODIES, FIVE SHEATHS

A Map for the Invisible in Palliative Care

Suffering is never just physical.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE applies a model from Indian philosophy to everyday palliative care. The three bodies and five sheaths provide a framework that allows for a more nuanced perception of the physical, energetic, mental, meaning-related, and deeper dimensions of experience.

The presentation combines the sheath modell with Cicely Saunders’ concept of total pain Total Pain and outlines the typical symptoms, resources, nursing interventions, and key questions for each level. At the same time, one’s attitude remains crucial: The model is neither a diagnosis nor a dogma, but rather a tool for awareness—and in cases of acute distress, relief always takes priority.

🜂 A person is—and always will be—more than just their illness.

Knowledge Space No. 21

THE RIGHT TO SUFFER

On the Dignity of the Unresolved, the Possibility of Transformation, and a World That Turns Every Pain into a Task

A person remains a person—even when their suffering remains unresolved. Their dignity does not depend on their recovery.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE focuses on an experience that can scarcely exist without us beginning to explain it, address it, process it, or transform it into growth. It asks what happens when healing becomes an expectation, meaning becomes an obligation, and even suffering becomes yet another human endeavor.

The focus is on the dignity of the unresolved, one’s own time, and the freedom not to have to ascribe a higher meaning to an experience. The article moves from the first and second arrows, through suffering as a possible “sacred truth,” to the question of powerlessness, external power, and the choice to remain in places where pain arises anew time and again.

Yet a central tension remains: Suffering can transform us, lead to compassion, and open a path to peace. But no one has the right to impose transformation on the one who is suffering. Not all suffering leads to growth, not every wound must take on meaning, and not all healing consists of becoming the person one was before.

🜂 The right to suffer is not a defense of suffering. It is a defense of humanity—even in situations where nothing has been resolved.

THE LIVING BETWEEN DETERMINATION AND FREEDOM

On Evolution, Consciousness, Power and the Reality of Being

How free is a person who can decide how to act, when the conditions of those decisions so often lie in the hands of others?

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores the living within the field of tension between nature, biological conditioning, social power, and human freedom. Is freedom a natural property of life, a capacity of consciousness, or a possibility that arises only within certain conditions?

The inquiry leads from evolution, genetics, and epigenetics through cooperation, competition, and domination to the interplay of body, environment, perception, and consciousness. Scientific findings meet philosophical and spiritual interpretations of connectedness, resonance, and reality, while respecting their differing claims to knowledge.

At the center is the question of whether freedom means independence from conditions, or whether it arises precisely within those relationships that make life possible and limit it at the same time. Between self-determination and external determination, vulnerability and responsibility, the human being appears as part of a reality that they help shape without ever having complete command over it.

🜂 Where human beings ask about their freedom, they simultaneously encounter the reality that determines how far their decision can reach.

Knowledge Space No. 23

BETWEEN THE “I”, MIND, AND INNER MOVEMENT

On Identification, Discernment, and the Fluid Architecture of the Inner Human Being

Not everything that happens within me is the same as who I am.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE explores the inner movements we often gather under a single word: “I”. Thoughts, feelings, memories, impulses, desires, resistance, and self-images arise within us—yet we frequently identify them directly with who we are. IchThoughts, feelings, memories, impulses, desires, resistance, and self-images arise within us—and yet we often equate them directly with our own selves.

The exploration moves from the “I”, self, ego, mind, and consciousness through identification and self-observation towards different ways of understanding inner life. It brings the Islamic concept of nafs into dialogue with the Indian conceptual framework of manas, buddhi, ahaṃkāra, and citta—not by equating different traditions, but by examining their distinct approaches to perception, desire, self-attribution, and discernment.

The focus lies less on overcoming the ego than on making it transparent: What is happening within me—and what part of this movement am I turning into an identity?

🜂 Self-knowledge may begin where an inner movement can be perceived without immediately becoming identity.

PHILOSOPHIA PROFUNDA

The Deep Movement of Insight – On the Place of Truth and the Path Between Question, Silence, and Experience

What happens when an answer does not end the questioning, but leads it into its true depth?

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE focuses less on philosophical answers than on the act of knowing itself. Where does truth reside? Is it found, remembered, experienced, or brought forth? Can it be taught, tested, or conveyed through authority—or does understanding begin precisely where established certainties lose their validity?

PHILOSOPHIA PROFUNDA follows the movement from question to answer and from there to the premises on which both rest. It explores shifts in the level of thought, aporia as a threshold, silence as a space of insight, and the possibility of deepening a statement until its hidden assumptions become visible rather than merely refuting it. At its centre lies no new philosophical doctrine, but a question: What underlying structure makes knowledge possible in the first place—and what remains constant while perception, concepts, and certainty change?

🜂 Depth begins where an answer ceases to claim the power to end the questioning.

CARE IN THE LIGHT OF AYURVEDA

Self-Care, Presence, and the Art of Not Carrying Everything

Care, don’t carry.

The KNOWLEDGE SPACE will be further developed and later published as a standalone presentation. The starting point is the distinction between “caring” and “carrying”: approaching a person with compassion without taking on their entire burden internally.

The focus is on Ayurvedic perspectives on regulation, rhythm, nutrition, sleep, movement, breath, meditation, and individual constitution, as well as on the question of how self-care can become the foundation of sustainable care. In this context, attention is also directed toward that fine line where compassion can turn into taking on others’ burdens, a sense of responsibility can become overwhelming, and support can turn into internally shouldering the burdens of others.

Care thus appears not as boundless availability, but as a form of presence that fosters closeness while at the same time preserving one’s own center. The WISSENSRAUM will be further developed at a later date and published as a standalone presentation.

🜂 Care from your centre—but do not carry the world.

THE ETHICS OF NOT-KNOWING

On the Limits of Understanding and the Dignity of the Open

Perhaps responsibility does not always begin with an answer.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE turns its attention to those situations in which knowledge ends, yet one must still act, accompany, or decide. Not-knowing appears here neither as a deficit nor as an excuse, but as a possible stance toward a reality that cannot be fully explained.

At the center are professional certainty, interpretation, ambiguity, uncertainty, and the question of when the desire for clarity can itself begin to narrow a person or a situation.

🜂 Not-knowing becomes a stance where the open question no longer has to be treated as a lack.

THE POWER OF INTERPRETATION

How Language Orders Reality and Can Pin People Down

Between what happens and what is said about it lies more than language.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE examines the power of naming, ascription, and interpretation. Diagnoses, roles, stories, and judgments describe reality, and at the same time begin to shape the very reality they refer to.

It leads through perception, language, projection, diagnostics, and social attribution to the question of when an interpretation offers orientation and when it begins to reduce a person to what it says about them.

🜂 Not every description discovers reality. Some first create the frame within which it can be seen.

THE VIOLENCE OF CERTAINTY

On Ambivalence, Judgment, and the Loss of the In-Between

Where only one truth is allowed to stand, reality loses its depth.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE asks about the price of that longing for clarity which seeks to dissolve every ambiguity. Between right and wrong, perpetrator and victim, healthy and sick, knowledge and error lie realities that resist simple classification.

At the center are ambivalence, polarization, moral certainty, and the ability to endure contradiction without having to eliminate it immediately.

🜂 Some things become perceptible only when two seemingly contradictory truths are allowed to stand side by side.

THE THIRD IN CONFLICT

On the Space Between Two Truths

Between two positions there is sometimes a place that neither of them can see.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE leads from conflict, position, and ascription to the space of the third. Mediation and the tetralemma meet philosophical questions about perspective, reality, and the limits of one’s own standpoint.

At the center is not the resolution of every contradiction, but the possibility of letting a movement become visible beyond two hardened truths, a movement that previously had no name.

🜂 A conflict changes where the third is no longer allowed to appear as a compromise, but as a space of its own.

EDUCATION WITHOUT INSTRUCTION

From Imparting to Enabling

Perhaps learning begins where the teacher no longer fills everything.

This KNOWLEDGE SPACE asks about an education that conveys knowledge without turning the person into a container for content. Teaching appears here less as the transfer of ready-made answers than as the shaping of a space in which perception, experience, examination, and one’s own insight become possible.

🜂 Education does not begin where a person can repeat an answer, but where something within them begins to ask.

∞ ∞ In-Depth Study & Further Exploration

The KNOWLEDGE SPACES provide orientation, bring connections into view, and open thematic pathways. A deeper exploration takes place where knowledge becomes encounter, exchange, and experience: in classes, seminars, workshops, and other educational formats offered by the ACADEMY OF WISDOM. Selected topics will also be explored further in the INNER SCHOOL in the future—particularly in the SPACE OF TRUTH. This is why the KNOWLEDGE SPACES on this page remain intentionally concise: as invitations to read, reflect, and continue the journey.

KNOWLEDGE SPACES

KNOWLEDGE SPACES - Notes

The KNOWLEDGE SPACES are intended to provide professional orientation, deeper exploration, reflection, and personal engagement with topics from health, nursing, palliative care, spiritual care, psychology, philosophy, and related fields of knowledge. They do not replace individual medical, therapeutic, psychological, nursing, legal, or other professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. For acute, persistent, or serious concerns, as well as specific medical, psychological, nursing, or legal questions, please consult appropriately qualified professionals. The KNOWLEDGE SPACES are intended as accompanying resources for knowledge and reflection. They seek to make connections visible, open perspectives, and encourage independent exploration. Especially in medical, nursing, and palliative contexts, general information can never replace an individual assessment of the person and their particular situation.
